One of the most traditional ski centers on the continent, Portillo is one of the most traditional ski resorts in the world of snow sports. Built in the late 1940s on the exact border between Argentina and Chile, the resort is literally nestled in the Andes, surrounded by peaks on all sides and in front of a lagoon of incredible color – the Laguna del Inca.
There are three buildings: Hotel Portillo, with its traditional silhouette, and two annexes – the Octagon, with smaller and simpler apartments, and the Inca, a hostel style, designed for groups of teenagers; and as in any hotel complex in the ski-in / ski-out concept, the sensation is of a maritime cruise in the middle of the snow, with all kinds of hand-drawn attractions such as thermal pool, boite, boutique, cinema, fitness . It is about 160 km distance between the center of Santiago and the resort, crossed on the international road that leads to the border with Argentina, in a very beautiful and picturesque area.
In Portillo you will have the rare sensation of skiing over this road, passing over tunnels. The resort offers a great structure for skiing and snowboarding, with 15 ski lifts and almost 50 km of slopes, as well as support for off-piste and heliski practice, school with international instructors, technical lectures. Portillo’s service is famous for its quality, whether in its kitchen or in the care of its employees, many of them working for decades in the hotel; the scenery is breathtaking, and the frequency of customers is totally multinational – people from all over the world come to know the clues and outskirts of this resort.
